Hydrogen Gas
The lightest element in the periodic table, hydrogen (H) is used for weather balloons, processing petroleum products, glass production, and heat treating furnaces for steel production.
Hydrogen gas is highly flammable and burns in air with a pale blue, almost invisible flame. It is most commonly used in a variety of chemical processes; as hydrogen fuel cells to power cars; and in fuel celled forklifts.
Hydrogen Applications
Refinery processes use hydrogen in the production of various fossil fuels, and to remove sulfuric contaminants in crude oil. Hydrogen is used as a coolant for power generators and as a shield gas in certain types of welding. It is also used in the heat-treating of various metals. Liquid hydrogen is typically used in rockets as a propellant but also finds use in powering life support systems and other electrical systems on board spacecraft.
Hydrogen Gas Supplier
Hydrogen is manufactured industrially by either electrolysis of water, steam reformation of hydrocarbons or partial oxidation of coal or hydrocarbons. Minneapolis Oxygen supplies hydrogen in a number of sizes.
